- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, instant yeast, and salt. Mix them well so the ingredients are evenly distributed.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, blend the milk, melted butter, and egg. Ensure the butter is not too hot; it should be warm to touch.
- Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients. Stir until a dough starts to form.
- Knead the Dough: Lightly flour your countertop and turn the dough out onto it. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
- Let the Dough Rise: Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl. Cover it with a clean towel and let it rise in a warm place for around 60 minutes or until it doubles in size.
- Roll Out the Dough: Once the dough has risen, roll it out into a rectangle on a floured surface. Aim for about 1/2 inch thick.
- Add Filling: Sprinkle the diced strawberries, cinnamon, and lemon zest evenly across the rolled-out dough.
- Shape the Rolls: Roll the dough tightly from the long side to create a log shape. Cut the log into equal pieces to make rolls.
- Second Rise: Place the rolls into a greased baking dish, cover again with the towel, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the Oven: While the rolls are rising, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake the Rolls: Bake the risen rolls for 20-25 minutes or until they turn golden brown on top.
- Serve: If desired, drizzle with powdered sugar for a sweet finishing touch. Serve the rolls warm to enjoy their delightful texture and flavor.
