Description

A delightful recipe for soft and fluffy homemade cinnamon rolls, perfect for breakfast or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for icing)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm milk, granulated sugar, and yeast. Allow this mixture to sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes foamy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt; mix thoroughly.
  3. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and eggs to the flour mixture. Stir until a dough starts to form.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes. The dough should be smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise for about 1 hour. It should double in size.
  6. After the dough has risen, roll it out into a rectangle. Spread softened butter over the top, then sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture evenly on top of the butter.
  7. Roll the dough tightly from one end to the other, then cut it into individual rolls.
  8. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, and cover them to rise again for another 30 minutes.
  9. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the tops are golden brown.
  10. For the icing, mix the powdered sugar and 2 tablespoons of milk until smooth. Drizzle over the warm rolls before serving.

Notes

Allowing the dough to rise properly is key to fluffy rolls. Be patient and let it double in size.
