- 4 cups bread flour
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 1 cup sun-dried tomatoes, chopped
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Cornmeal, for dusting
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let this mixture sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add the bread flour, salt, olive oil, and chopped sun-dried tomatoes to the yeast mixture. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover it. Let it rise for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and bring a large pot of water to a boil.
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down gently. Divide it into 8 equal pieces and shape each piece into a bagel.
- Drop each bagel into the boiling water for about 1-2 minutes on each side. Afterward, place them on a baking sheet dusted with cornmeal.
- Bake the bagels for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
