Ingredients

  • 4 cups bread flour
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1 cup sun-dried tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Cornmeal, for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let this mixture sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add the bread flour, salt, olive oil, and chopped sun-dried tomatoes to the yeast mixture. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  3. Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover it. Let it rise for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
  4. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and bring a large pot of water to a boil.
  5. Once the dough has risen, punch it down gently. Divide it into 8 equal pieces and shape each piece into a bagel.
  6. Drop each bagel into the boiling water for about 1-2 minutes on each side. Afterward, place them on a baking sheet dusted with cornmeal.
  7. Bake the bagels for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  8. Let the bagels cool before serving. Enjoy!
