Description

Delicious cherry bars with a buttery crust and a crumbly oat topping, perfect for holiday gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 can cherry pie filling
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. Cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Blend in the flour, salt, baking powder, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  3. Press half of this dough into the prepared pan to form a crust.
  4. Spread the cherry pie filling over the crust.
  5. Mix the oats, brown sugar, and cinnamon in another bowl. Crumble the remaining dough over the cherry filling and sprinkle the oat mixture on top.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Allow to cool before cutting into bars.
