Ingredients
Scale
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup eggnog
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 8 slices of thick bread (like brioche or challah)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- Whipped cream, for serving
- Ground cinnamon and nutmeg, for garnish
- Optional: maple syrup, for serving
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, crack the eggs and whisk until fully blended.
- Add eggnog, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and salt to the eggs. Whisk until smooth.
- Preheat a skillet over medium heat and melt 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter.
- Dip a slice of bread into the eggnog mixture, coating both sides.
- Place the coated bread on the skillet, ensuring not to overcrowd. Repeat with remaining slices.
- Cook each slice for 3-4 minutes until golden, then flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes.
- Remove from skillet and keep warm in a low oven. Add more butter to skillet as needed.
- Serve warm topped with whipped cream, cinnamon, nutmeg, and maple syrup if desired.
Notes
Don’t soak the bread too long; dip quickly to avoid sogginess. Use thick bread for best texture.
