Description

A festive French toast recipe infused with creamy eggnog, vanilla, and spices, perfect for holiday breakfasts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup eggnog
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 8 slices of thick bread (like brioche or challah)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • Whipped cream, for serving
  • Ground cinnamon and nutmeg, for garnish
  • Optional: maple syrup, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, crack the eggs and whisk until fully blended.
  2. Add eggnog, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and salt to the eggs. Whisk until smooth.
  3. Preheat a skillet over medium heat and melt 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter.
  4. Dip a slice of bread into the eggnog mixture, coating both sides.
  5. Place the coated bread on the skillet, ensuring not to overcrowd. Repeat with remaining slices.
  6. Cook each slice for 3-4 minutes until golden, then flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes.
  7. Remove from skillet and keep warm in a low oven. Add more butter to skillet as needed.
  8. Serve warm topped with whipped cream, cinnamon, nutmeg, and maple syrup if desired.

Notes

Don’t soak the bread too long; dip quickly to avoid sogginess. Use thick bread for best texture.
