Description
A comforting and hearty casserole combining ground beef, potatoes, and cheese, perfect for busy weeknights.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 4–5 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned (about 5-7 minutes). After browning, drain the excess fat.
- Stir in the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté this mixture for an additional 3-4 minutes until the onion softens.
- Layer the thinly sliced potatoes over the beef mixture in the baking dish.
- Season the layered potatoes with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning for extra flavor.
- Top the potatoes with shredded cheddar and Parmesan cheese.
- Pour beef broth around the edges of the dish to keep the potatoes moist during baking.
- Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes. After this time, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the potatoes are tender.
Notes
Slice potatoes thinly for even cooking. Don’t skip the broth to keep potatoes moist.
