Description

A comforting and filling bake made with layers of ground beef and potatoes, topped with a creamy mixture and cheese.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 medium potatoes, sliced
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent.
  3. Add garlic and ground beef, cook until browned. Season with paprika, salt, and pepper.
  4. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish.
  5. Spread half of the ground beef mixture over the potatoes.
  6. Repeat with the remaining potatoes and beef.
  7. Mix sour cream (or Greek yogurt) with a bit of salt and pepper, then spread it over the top layer.
  8. Sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
  9. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  10. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  11. Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Don’t skip the browning: Make sure to cook the ground beef until it’s well-browned. Adjust seasoning to taste.
