Ingredients

  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour or gluten-free flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup or honey
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup diced apples
  • 1/4 cup raisins (optional)
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the rolled oats, flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix the applesauce and maple syrup (or honey) until well combined.
  4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Fold in diced apples, raisins, and walnuts if using.
  5. Drop spoonfuls of the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, flattening slightly.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are golden.
  7. Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
