- 1 loaf of Hawaiian sweet rolls (12 rolls)
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons butter (for cooking)
- Optional toppings: maple syrup, powdered sugar, fresh fruit, or whipped cream
Instructions
- Cut the Hawaiian sweet rolls in half horizontally and place in a baking dish.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until smooth.
- Pour the egg mixture evenly over the rolls and let soak for 15 minutes, or refrigerate for up to 2 hours.
- Preheat your skillet or griddle over medium heat and add butter.
- Once hot, place the soaked roll halves cut side down in the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Repeat with remaining rolls and keep warm.
- Serve warm with your choice of toppings.
Notes
For best results, soak the rolls longer or refrigerate them before cooking. Avoid cooking on high heat to prevent burning.
