Description
Delightful and savory Hanky Panky appetizers made with a mixture of meats and cheese, spread on toasted rye bread.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef (or lean ground turkey/chicken)
- 1 pound ground pork sausage (or lean ground turkey/chicken)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or dairy-free cheese)
- 1 cup cream cheese (or non-dairy cream cheese)
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 loaf rye bread (or gluten-free bread)
- Chopped parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Gather all your ingredients.
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and ground pork sausage over medium heat until well browned, about 8-10 minutes, draining excess fat as necessary.
- Lower the heat and add the cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder. Mix until the cheeses melt and incorporate, about 5 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Cut the rye bread into squares or rectangles, about 1-2 inches.
- Spoon a generous amount of the meat and cheese mixture onto each piece of bread.
- Place the assembled appetizers on a baking sheet and bake for 10-15 minutes, until the bread is slightly crispy and the cheese is bubbly.
- Remove from oven, let cool for a couple of minutes, and garnish with chopped parsley before serving warm.
