Description

A comforting and savory dish of ground beef, mushrooms, and creamy sour cream, perfect for weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Egg noodles or rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until the onion is soft and translucent.
  3. Increase the heat to medium-high. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula.
  4. Drain the excess fat from the skillet.
  5. Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet. Cook until they are softened, about 3-4 minutes.
  6. Sprinkle the flour over the beef and mushroom mixture and stir to combine evenly.
  7. Gradually pour in the beef broth while continuously stirring to prevent lumps.
  8. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce the heat.
  9. Stir in the sour cream until well incorporated. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  10. Serve the stroganoff over cooked egg noodles or rice.

Notes

Add a pinch of red pepper flakes for some spice or substitute Greek yogurt for a lighter version.
