Description
A comforting and flavorful ground beef dish that’s perfect for busy weeknights or special gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound of ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 can (15 oz) of diced tomatoes
- 1 can (8 oz) of tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon of dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- ½ teaspoon of black pepper
- 1 cup of shredded cheese (like cheddar or mozzarella)
- 2 teaspoons of olive oil
- Optional: chopped bell peppers or corn
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until the onion becomes translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook, stirring frequently, until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, oregano, salt, and black pepper. If using bell peppers or corn, add them now.
- Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for about 15 minutes.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the top, cover the skillet with a lid, and let it cook for an additional 5 minutes or until the cheese melts.
- Give it a good stir and serve hot, either alone or with sides.
Notes
Do not overcook the beef to ensure it remains juicy and tender. Layer the cheese during cooking for perfect melt.
