Description

A delicious and healthier twist on traditional meatballs, these Greek Turkey Meatballs with homemade tzatziki sauce are flavorful and easy to make.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound lean ground turkey
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh oregano, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 egg
  • Olive oil (for cooking)
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cucumber, grated and drained
  • 1 clove garlic, minced (for tzatziki)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Salt to taste (for tzatziki)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, chopped onion, minced garlic, chopped parsley, fresh oregano, salt, pepper, and egg. Mix everything until well combined.
  2. Shape the mixture into meatballs, each about 1 inch in diameter.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook for about 15-20 minutes, turning occasionally.
  4. While the meatballs are cooking, prepare the tzatziki sauce by mixing the Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, minced garlic, lemon juice, and salt until smooth.
  5. Once the meatballs are done, serve warm with tzatziki sauce on the side for dipping.

Notes

For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free breadcrumbs. Baking is also an alternative to frying; bake at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes.
