Description

A comforting dish of tender cabbage leaves filled with a savory mixture of beef, rice, and spices, all topped with a delicious tomato sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 head of cabbage
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Carefully remove the cabbage leaves from the head and blanch them in boiling water for about 2-3 minutes until pliable.
  3. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté the onion and garlic until translucent.
  4. Combine the ground beef, cooked rice, sautéed onions, garlic, salt, pepper, paprika, and thyme in a bowl. Mix well.
  5. Place a generous amount of the filling in the center of each cabbage leaf and roll tightly, tucking in the sides.
  6. Spread some tomato sauce on the bottom of a baking dish. Arrange the rolls seam-side down in the dish.
  7. Pour the remaining tomato sauce over the rolls.
  8. Cover with foil and bake for 1 hour.
  9. Serve hot and enjoy your Golumpki!

Notes

Make sure to season the beef and rice mixture well. Taste it before filling the cabbage leaves to ensure it’s flavorful.
