- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tbsp ground ginger
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- ½ tsp nutmeg
- ¼ tsp salt
- 1 cup molasses
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 egg
- ½ cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup cream cheese
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix molasses, brown sugar, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Combine the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients until just blended.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cool completely before frosting.
- For the frosting, beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth and spread over the cooled bars.
- Cut into squares, serve, and enjoy!
