- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon ground ginger
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup unsulfured molasses
- Sanding sugar for rolling
- Hershey’s Hugs kisses for topping
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the egg and molasses until well blended.
- Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
- Roll the dough into balls, then roll in sanding sugar to coat.
- Place the cookies on the prepared baking sheets and flatten them slightly.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes, then remove from the oven and immediately top each cookie with a Hershey’s Hug.
- Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
Notes
Avoid over-mixing the dough for soft and chewy cookies. Use room temperature ingredients for better mixing.
