Description

This German Chocolate Poke Cake is an easy, crowd-pleasing dessert that’s rich, moist, and topped with chocolate frosting.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup shredded coconut
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup chocolate frosting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the chocolate cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs until well combined. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish.
  3. Bake according to package instructions, typically 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  4. Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool for 10 minutes.
  5. Poke holes all over the top of the cake using the end of a wooden spoon.
  6. In a separate bowl, mix the sweetened condensed milk with shredded coconut and chopped pecans. Pour this mixture over the warm cake.
  7. Let the cake cool completely, then frost the top with chocolate frosting.
  8. Serve chilled or at room temperature and enjoy!

Notes

For best results, do not overmix the batter and ensure to poke holes while the cake is warm.
