This German Chocolate Poke Cake is an easy, crowd-pleasing dessert that’s rich, moist, and topped with chocolate frosting.

- 1 box chocolate cake mix
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 3 large eggs
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup shredded coconut
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1 cup chocolate frosting
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, mix the chocolate cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs until well combined. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish.
- Bake according to package instructions, typically 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool for 10 minutes.
- Poke holes all over the top of the cake using the end of a wooden spoon.
- In a separate bowl, mix the sweetened condensed milk with shredded coconut and chopped pecans. Pour this mixture over the warm cake.
- Let the cake cool completely, then frost the top with chocolate frosting.
- Serve chilled or at room temperature and enjoy!
Notes
For best results, do not overmix the batter and ensure to poke holes while the cake is warm.
