- 1 pound ground beef
- ½ cup diced onion
- 11-ounce tube refrigerated French bread dough
- â…“ cup ketchup
- 3 tablespoons mustard
- 6 slices cooked bacon (crumbled)
- 8 slices American cheese
- 2 dill pickle spears (chopped)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion until browned. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- On a floured surface, roll out the French bread dough into a rectangle shape.
- Evenly spread ketchup and mustard on the dough, leaving a border around the edges.
- Add the cooked beef mixture, crumbled bacon, chopped pickles, and slices of American cheese on top of the condiments.
- Starting from one long end, roll the dough tightly into a log shape and seal the edges well.
- Place the rolled dough seam side down onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Brush the top of the dough with a beaten egg and sprinkle sesame seeds over it.
- Bake the Garbage Bread for 20–25 minutes or until golden brown.
- Allow the bread to cool for about five minutes before slicing into pieces to serve.
Notes
Do not overstuff the bread and ensure the edges are sealed properly to prevent leaks during baking.
