Description

Delightfully sweet frosted sugar cookies that are soft, chewy, and perfect for decorating for various occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar for frosting
  • 2 tablespoons milk for frosting
  • Food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Mix together flour, baking soda, and baking powder in a bowl. Set aside.
  3. Cream together the butter and sugar until smooth in another bowl. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract.
  4. Blend in the dry ingredients gradually.
  5. Roll rounded tablespoonfuls of dough into balls, and place them onto ungreased cookie sheets. Flatten the balls slightly with your fingers.
  6. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden. Let cool on wire racks.
  7. Mix powdered sugar and milk in a bowl for frosting. Add food coloring if desired. Frost cooled cookies as desired.

Notes

Chill the dough for 30 minutes for better shaping and texture. Store cookies in an airtight container.
