- 8 slices of bread
- 1 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1/3 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1 egg
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Spread the cream cheese mixture onto 4 slices of bread. Place the sliced strawberries on top, then cover with the remaining slices of bread.
- In a shallow dish, whisk together the egg and milk.
- Dip each sandwich into the egg mixture, coating both sides, then coat with breadcrumbs.
- Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the sandwiches until golden brown on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Drain the sandwiches on paper towels and serve warm, optionally dusted with powdered sugar.
Notes
For best results, use thicker bread like brioche to avoid sogginess. Make sure the oil is hot before frying to achieve a crispy texture.
