Description
A delightful treat combining the crispness of apples with a sweet cinnamon flavor, perfect for snack time or dessert.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 large apples
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup corn starch
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Oil for frying
- Sugar for dusting
- Additional cinnamon for dusting
Instructions
- Prepare the apples: Start by peeling and coring the apples. Then, slice them into rings about half an inch thick.
- Mix dry ingredients: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, corn starch, baking powder, ground cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
- Mix wet ingredients: In another bowl, mix the milk, egg, and vanilla extract. Make sure everything is combined nicely.
- Combine mixtures: Pour the wet ingredients into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Stir until you form a smooth batter. Make sure there are no lumps.
- Heat the oil: Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. You want enough oil to cover the bottom of the pan.
- Batter the apple rings: Dip each apple ring into the batter, making sure to coat it fully. Allow any excess batter to drip off.
- Fry the rings: Carefully place the battered apple rings into the hot oil. Fry them until they are golden brown on both sides, which should take about 2-3 minutes each side.
- Drain and dust: Once fried, remove the rings from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain. While they are still warm, dust them with sugar and additional cinnamon for an extra sweet touch.
Notes
For best results, use firm apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp, and avoid overcrowding the frying pan to maintain oil temperature.
