Description
A delightful blend of classic French onion soup flavors and fun Sloppy Joes, topped with melted cheese for a comforting meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound Ground Beef (or ground turkey/chicken)
- 2 medium Onions (sliced)
- 2 cloves Garlic (minced)
- 1 cup Beef Broth (or vegetable broth)
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
- 1 teaspoon Thyme (dried or fresh)
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
- 4 pieces Hamburger Buns (whole grain or gluten-free)
- 2 cups Shredded Cheese (Swiss or provolone preferred)
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef for about 5 to 7 minutes until no longer pink. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the sliced onions to the skillet with the beef. Cook until the onions are soft and caramelized, about 10 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
- Pour in the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Stir together and let simmer for about 10 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
- While the mixture simmers, toast the hamburger buns lightly.
- Spoon the beef and onion mixture onto the toasted buns and top with shredded cheese.
- For extra gooey cheese, place the assembled Sloppy Joes under a broiler for 2-3 minutes until melted and bubbly.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
Notes
Be patient while caramelizing the onions for the best flavor. Adjust seasoning to your taste preferences.
