Description

A comforting dish combining the flavors of French onion soup with hearty beef and noodles, perfect for chilly evenings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb Beef (chuck or sirloin), cut into bite-size pieces
  • 2 Yellow onions, thinly sliced
  • 8 oz Egg noodles
  • 4 cups Beef broth
  • 1 cup Cream or dairy-free alternative
  • 2 tbsp Oil for cooking
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Slice the onions thinly for even cooking, and cut beef into uniform pieces.
  2. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat, add beef in a single layer, and brown it on all sides. Set aside.
  3. Add sliced onions to the skillet, stirring to coat with oil and caramelize on medium-low heat.
  4. Continue cooking onions until golden and soft.
  5. Return beef to the skillet, pour in beef broth, and simmer until beef is tender and sauce thickens.
  6. Cook egg noodles in a separate pot until just tender, then drain.
  7. Add noodles to the skillet, pour in cream, and stir until well-coated.
  8. Season with salt and pepper, adjusting as needed. Serve warm.

Notes

For a lighter dish, reduce the amount of cream or use a dairy-free alternative. Be patient with caramelizing onions for best flavor.
