Description

A cozy and flavorful French Onion Beef Casserole made easy in a pressure cooker. Enjoy this hearty dish in no time.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 large yellow onion (thinly sliced)
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 packet onion soup mix (1 ounce)
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 2 cans condensed French onion soup (10.5 ounces each)
  • 12 ounces wide egg noodles
  • 6 ounces crispy fried onions

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pressure Cooker: Start by melting the unsalted butter in your pressure cooker over medium heat.
  2. Sauté the Onion: Add the thinly sliced onion and cook until it is soft and golden brown, about 5 to 7 minutes.
  3. Brown the Beef: Add the ground beef to the cooker, breaking it apart as it cooks. Season it with onion soup mix, kosher salt, and black pepper. Cook until the beef is no longer pink.
  4. Add Liquids: Pour in the beef broth and the condensed French onion soup. Stir everything together to mix well.
  5. Add Noodles: Add the wide egg noodles to the pot. Ensure they are mostly submerged in the liquid.
  6. Pressure Cook: Close the lid and set the pressure cooker to high pressure. Cook for 5 minutes.
  7. Release Pressure: After the cooking time, perform a quick release of the pressure. Once safe to do so, open the lid.
  8. Finish the Dish: Stir the casserole and top it with crispy fried onions. Let it sit for a few minutes before serving to allow the toppings to warm.

Notes

Don’t overcook the onions and ensure to use enough broth for flavor.
