Ingredients
Scale
- 1 sleeve of saltine crackers
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 cups chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
- Sprinkles or additional toppings (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and lightly spray it with cooking spray.
- Arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer on the baking sheet.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar together over medium heat. Stir constantly until well combined.
- Bring the mixture to a boil and let it boil for 3-4 minutes without stirring.
- Pour the hot mixture evenly over the crackers to cover them well.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes until you see bubbling.
- Once baked, remove from the oven and sprinkle chocolate chips over the top. Allow them to sit for a few minutes to melt.
- After the chocolate has melted, use a spatula to spread it evenly over the crackers. Add any optional toppings while the chocolate is still warm.
- Let the whole tray cool completely before breaking it into pieces.
Notes
Spray the foil with cooking spray to prevent sticking, monitor the caramel boiling time, and allow the dish to cool completely before breaking apart.
