Ingredients

  • Red and green food coloring
  • Crushed candy canes for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg, vanilla extract, and peppermint extract, mixing until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture until a soft dough forms.
  6. Divide the dough in half, adding red food coloring to one half and green coloring to the other.
  7. Roll small pieces of each color into logs and twist them together to create striped shapes.
  8. Place cookies on a parchment-lined baking sheet, spaced apart.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.
  10. Allow cookies to cool slightly before sprinkling with crushed candy canes.
