Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

- Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add the milk gradually, stirring until a soft dough forms.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently.
- Pat the dough to about 1-inch thick and cut into rounds.
- Place on a baking sheet and brush with egg wash, if using.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden.
- Serve warm with cream and jam.
