Description

Eggnog Tiramisu is a delightful twist on the classic Italian dessert, combining creamy eggnog flavors with coffee-soaked ladyfingers, perfect for holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large egg yolks
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup eggnog
  • 8 ounces mascarpone cheese, softened
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream, cold
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg (plus more for serving)
  • 1 1/2 cups strong brewed coffee, cooled
  • 1/4 cup dark rum or brandy (optional)
  • 24 to 30 ladyfingers
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder for dusting

Instructions

  1. Brew the Coffee: Brew some strong coffee or espresso. Let it cool completely, then set it aside in a shallow dish.
  2. Make the Eggnog Custard: In a heatproof bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and granulated sugar until thick and pale. Place the bowl over simmering water and cook, whisking constantly, until thickened slightly.
  3. Add Eggnog: Whisk in eggnog and a pinch of salt, cooking for a couple more minutes until lightly thickened. Remove from heat and let cool.
  4. Prepare the Mascarpone: In a separate bowl, beat mascarpone cheese until smooth.
  5. Whip the Cream: In a chilled bowl, whip cold heavy cream with vanilla extract and ground nutmeg until soft peaks form.
  6. Combine Mixtures: Gently fold the cooled eggnog custard into the mascarpone and then fold in the whipped cream until thick and fluffy.
  7. Prepare Coffee Mixture: Stir together the cooled coffee and dark rum or brandy in the shallow dish.
  8. Dip the Ladyfingers: Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture for 1 to 2 seconds per side.
  9. Layer the Dessert: Arrange a layer of dipped ladyfingers at the bottom of an 8×8 inch dish, spread half of the eggnog mascarpone cream over the ladyfingers.
  10. Add More Layers: Place another layer of dipped ladyfingers and spread the remaining eggnog mascarpone cream on top.
  11. Chill: Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  12. Serve: Dust with cocoa powder and nutmeg before serving. Slice and enjoy!
