- 1 pound ground beef
- 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup milk
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: garlic powder, paprika, or herbs for seasoning
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Brown the ground beef and onion in a skillet over medium heat until the meat is no longer pink; drain excess fat.
- Mix the cream of mushroom soup, milk, salt, and pepper (and any optional seasonings) in a large bowl.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased casserole dish, followed by the beef mixture, and then half of the cheese.
- Pour half of the soup mixture over these layers. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, beef, cheese, and soup mixture.
- Cover the dish with foil and bake for 60 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbly.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
Feel free to customize with more veggies or use plant-based meat alternatives for a vegetarian version.
