Description

A delicious and easy way to marinate, cook, and serve flat iron steak for tender, juicy results.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar or red wine vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar or honey
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon smoked paprika or chili flakes

Instructions

  1. Combine all marinade ingredients in a bowl.
  2. Marinate the flat iron steak for 30 minutes at room temperature or 2 to 4 hours in the fridge.
  3. Pat the steak dry before cooking.
  4. For pan searing, preheat a cast iron skillet and add oil. Sear the steak for 3-4 minutes on each side.
  5. For grilling, preheat and clean grill grates. Grill steak for 3-4 minutes per side.
  6. Check doneness with a thermometer (130-135°F for medium rare).
  7. Let the steak rest for 5-7 minutes before slicing across the grain.

Notes

Pat the steak dry before cooking to achieve a better crust and avoid steaming. Slice across the grain for the most tender bites.
