A delicious and easy way to marinate, cook, and serve flat iron steak for tender, juicy results.
Ingredients

- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar or red wine vinegar
- 2 teaspoons brown sugar or honey
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- Optional: 1 teaspoon smoked paprika or chili flakes
Instructions
- Combine all marinade ingredients in a bowl.
- Marinate the flat iron steak for 30 minutes at room temperature or 2 to 4 hours in the fridge.
- Pat the steak dry before cooking.
- For pan searing, preheat a cast iron skillet and add oil. Sear the steak for 3-4 minutes on each side.
- For grilling, preheat and clean grill grates. Grill steak for 3-4 minutes per side.
- Check doneness with a thermometer (130-135°F for medium rare).
- Let the steak rest for 5-7 minutes before slicing across the grain.
Notes
Pat the steak dry before cooking to achieve a better crust and avoid steaming. Slice across the grain for the most tender bites.
