Description

This easy and delicious Dump & Bake Chicken Parmesan Casserole combines the classic flavors of Chicken Parmesan with minimal prep and clean-up, making it perfect for busy weeknights.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded or diced
  • 2 cups uncooked penne or rotini pasta
  • 3 cups marinara sauce
  • 2½ cups water or chicken broth
  • 1½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Add the uncooked pasta and the cooked chicken to the baking dish, spreading them out evenly.
  3. Pour the marinara sauce and water or chicken broth over the pasta and chicken, ensuring most of the pasta is submerged.
  4. Sprinkle in the garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper, then stir everything together.
  5. Cover the dish tightly with foil and bake for 35 minutes.
  6. After 35 minutes, remove the foil, stir the casserole, and sprinkle 1 cup of mozzarella and all the Parmesan on top.
  7. Return to the oven uncovered and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Allowing the casserole to rest before serving helps the sauce settle, making it easier to slice and serve.
