Description

Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, festival food is a delightful treat perfect for any celebration.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup water (or as needed)
  • Oil for deep frying

Instructions

  1. Combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and ground nutmeg in a large bowl.
  2. Gradually add water to the dry mixture, stirring until you achieve a thick, smooth batter.
  3. Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
  4. Test the oil readiness by dropping a small amount of batter into it.
  5. Shape small portions of the batter and drop them into the hot oil carefully.
  6. Fry the festival until golden brown and floating, approximately 3 to 5 minutes.
  7. Remove the festival from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels.
  8. Serve warm, and enjoy with your favorite dipping sauce or side dish.

Notes

For a sweeter version, add honey or chocolate chips to the batter. For a spicy twist, incorporate jalapeños.
