Description

Delicious and fluffy cinnamon rolls made using sourdough starter, perfect for any time of day!


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sourdough starter
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and cinnamon. Mix well to combine all the dry ingredients.
  2. In another bowl, mix the sourdough starter, milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla. Stir until everything is combined smoothly.
  3. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place until it has doubled in size, about 60 minutes.
  6. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Roll out the dough into a rectangle on a floured surface, about 1/4 inch thick.
  8. Spread melted butter over the dough, then sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon evenly.
  9. Starting from one end, roll the dough tightly and pinch the seam to seal.
  10. Cut the rolled dough into equal-sized pieces to create rolls.
  11. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  12. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown on top.
  13. Allow to cool slightly before enjoying warm.

Notes

These cinnamon rolls can be stored at room temperature for up to 2 days, refrigerated for a week, or frozen for up to 3 months.
