- 175 g unsalted butter (about 12 tbsp)
- 150 g golden syrup (about 1/2 cup)
- 100 g light brown sugar (about 1/2 cup, packed)
- 350 g rolled oats (about 4 cups)
- Pinch of fine salt
- Optional add-ins: 75 g raisins, chopped nuts, seeds, or chocolate chips
Instructions
- Line an 8-inch (20 cm) square baking pan with parchment, leaving a little overhang.
- Preheat your oven to 160°C (320°F).
- In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the butter with golden syrup and brown sugar, stirring gently until glossy.
- Remove from heat, sprinkle in salt, and stir in oats until evenly coated. Fold in any optional add-ins.
- Scoop the mixture into the prepared pan and press down firmly to create an even layer.
- Bake for 18 to 25 minutes until light golden edges form and the center is soft.
- Let the pan cool on a rack for 15 to 20 minutes, then slice while still warm.
- Allow to cool completely in the pan before removing slices.
Notes
For the best texture, use rolled oats and press the mixture firmly into the pan to avoid crumbling.
