Description
A sweet and savory honey glazed ham that’s perfect for festive feasts and holiday celebrations.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4–5 kg Bone-in or boneless ham
- 1/2 cup Honey
- 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1/2 cup Orange juice
- 2 tbsp Brown sugar (optional)
- 1 pinch Cloves or cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 160°C (325°F).
- If using a bone-in ham, score the surface in a diamond pattern.
- In a bowl, combine honey, Dijon mustard, orange juice, and optional brown sugar; mix until smooth.
- Brush the glaze generously over the ham, ensuring to get it into the scored sections.
- Place the ham in a roasting pan and cover loosely with aluminum foil. Bake for about 15-18 minutes per 500g (1 lb), basting every 30 minutes.
- In the last 30 minutes, remove the foil to allow the glaze to caramelize and sprinkle optional cloves or cinnamon for added warmth.
- Check for doneness; the ham is ready when it reaches an internal temperature of at least 70°C (160°F).
- Let the ham rest for 20-30 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
Ensure a generous application of the glaze for the richest flavor. Letting the ham rest is crucial for juicy slices.
