Description
Baked churro bites are a healthier alternative to traditional churros, light, fluffy, and coated in cinnamon sugar, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 1/4 cups water
- 5 tablespoons chilled unsalted butter
- 2 packed tablespoons brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon fine salt
- 1 1/4 cups plain flour
- 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted (for brushing before adding sugar)
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Make the Dough: In a saucepan over medium heat, combine water, butter, brown sugar, and salt. Stir until boiling, then remove from heat once a sticky dough forms.
- Cool and Mix: Allow the dough to cool for about 10 minutes, then add vanilla essence and eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and transfer the dough to a pastry bag fitted with a large star tip.
- Pipe the Churros: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and pipe the dough into bite-sized lengths, leaving space between each piece.
- Bake: Spray churro bites lightly with oil, then bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Let rest in a warm oven for a few minutes.
- Coat in Sugar: In a bowl, mix sugar, ground cinnamon, and salt. Brush churros with melted butter and roll in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until fully coated.
- Serve: Enjoy warm on their own or with chocolate sauce for dipping.
Notes
For added flavor, you can customize the churro bites with various toppings or fillings like chocolate or citrus.
