Description

A rich and creamy hot chocolate topped with freshly whipped cream, perfect for chilly nights.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups Whole milk
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup Semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Pure vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt
  • Whipped cream (for topping)
  • Chocolate shavings or cocoa powder (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine 2 cups of whole milk and 1 cup of heavy cream. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally until just about to simmer.
  2. Add 1/4 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder, 1/2 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips, 1/4 cup of granulated sugar, and a pinch of salt. Stir continuously until smooth.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Sweeten if desired.
  5. Pour the hot chocolate into mugs, about three-quarters full.
  6. Top with whipped cream and garnish with chocolate shavings or cocoa powder.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

For added flavor, consider variations like spicy hot chocolate or peppermint hot chocolate. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
