Description

A classic custard tart with a smooth, creamy filling and flaky pastry crust, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package of puff pastry
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 large egg yolks
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Cinnamon (optional)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry and cut it into circles to line a muffin tin.
  3. In a saucepan, combine the heavy cream, milk, and sugar. Heat over medium until the sugar dissolves, stirring occasionally.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and cornstarch until smooth. Gradually add the warm milk mixture, whisking continuously.
  5. Pour the custard mixture back into the saucepan and cook on low heat, stirring constantly until it thickens (5-10 minutes).
  6. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  7. Fill the pastry-lined muffin tin with the custard mixture.
  8. Bake for about 20 minutes, or until the tops are lightly caramelized.
  9. Let cool slightly before serving, dusting with powdered sugar and cinnamon if desired.

Notes

Ensure the custard is set but still slightly wobbly in the center when baked. Chill the dough if it becomes too warm while rolling.
