- 1 pound ground beef (or turkey)
- 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1 cup diced onion
- 1 cup diced bell pepper (any color)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 tablespoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup beef or vegetable broth
- Optional toppings: shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped green onions
Instructions
- In a pan over medium heat, brown the ground beef (or turkey). Break it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Add the cooked meat to the slow cooker.
- Add the kidney beans, black beans, diced tomatoes (with juice), diced onion, diced bell pepper, and minced garlic to the slow cooker.
- Sprinkle in the chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
- Pour in the broth and mix everything well.
- Cover and cook on low for 360 minutes or on high for 240 minutes.
- Serve with optional toppings like shredded cheese, sour cream, or chopped green onions.
Notes
Chili stores well and can be frozen for later. Make sure to cool it before storing.
