- 2 cups dried navy beans
- 6 cups water
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon mustard
- 1/2 pound bacon, cooked and crumbled (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the beans: Rinse the navy beans under cold water and soak them in water overnight.
- Drain and rinse the beans: After soaking, drain and rinse the beans again.
- Place them in the crockpot for cooking.
- Combine ingredients: Add water, chopped onion, molasses, brown sugar, salt, black pepper, ketchup, and mustard into the crockpot.
- Add bacon (if using): Add the crumbled bacon to the mix for added flavor.
- Stir well: Make sure all ingredients are mixed together.
- Cook: Cover the crockpot and set it to cook on low for 8-10 hours.
- Serve warm: Once done, serve the beans warm.
Notes
You can adjust sweetness with more brown sugar or molasses. Avoid overfilling the crockpot.
