Description

Delicious and satisfying wraps with crispy tofu and fresh lettuce, perfect for a light meal.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 block (14 oz) extra-firm tofu, pressed
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce or tamari
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons neutral cooking oil (like canola or vegetable)
  • 1/2 cup shredded carrots
  • 1/2 cup chopped water chestnuts
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green onion
  • 1 head of butter lettuce or iceberg lettuce, leaves separated
  • Hoisin sauce or sweet chili sauce for serving

Instructions

  1. Cut the pressed tofu into small, bite-sized cubes.
  2. In a medium bowl, gently toss the tofu cubes with soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic powder, and pepper until coated.
  3. Sprinkle the cornstarch over the tofu and toss again until the cubes are lightly dusted.
  4. Heat the cooking oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  5. Add the tofu to the hot skillet in a single layer. Cook for 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally, until all sides are golden brown and crispy.
  6. Remove the crispy tofu from the skillet and set aside.
  7. In the same skillet, add the carrots and water chestnuts. Sauté for 2 minutes until slightly tender-crisp.
  8. Return the tofu to the skillet. Add the green onion and toss everything together for one minute.
  9. Spoon the tofu mixture into the center of each lettuce cup.
  10. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

Press tofu well for optimal crispiness and store ingredients separately if making in advance.
