Description
Delicious and satisfying wraps with crispy tofu and fresh lettuce, perfect for a light meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 block (14 oz) extra-firm tofu, pressed
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce or tamari
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons neutral cooking oil (like canola or vegetable)
- 1/2 cup shredded carrots
- 1/2 cup chopped water chestnuts
- 2 tablespoons chopped green onion
- 1 head of butter lettuce or iceberg lettuce, leaves separated
- Hoisin sauce or sweet chili sauce for serving
Instructions
- Cut the pressed tofu into small, bite-sized cubes.
- In a medium bowl, gently toss the tofu cubes with soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic powder, and pepper until coated.
- Sprinkle the cornstarch over the tofu and toss again until the cubes are lightly dusted.
- Heat the cooking oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the tofu to the hot skillet in a single layer. Cook for 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally, until all sides are golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the crispy tofu from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the carrots and water chestnuts. Sauté for 2 minutes until slightly tender-crisp.
- Return the tofu to the skillet. Add the green onion and toss everything together for one minute.
- Spoon the tofu mixture into the center of each lettuce cup.
- Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.
