- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko)
- 1 tablespoon lemon zest
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- ½ cup honey
- ÂĽ cup fresh lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven or air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
- Prepare three bowls with flour, beaten eggs, and a breadcrumb mixture with lemon zest, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Coat each chicken tender first in flour, then in egg, and finally in the breadcrumb mixture.
- Arrange the coated tenders on a greased baking sheet or in the air fryer basket, drizzling with olive oil if baking.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, turning halfway through until golden brown and crispy. For air fryer, cook for about 10-12 minutes.
- Make the honey lemon sauce by whisking together honey, lemon juice, and soy sauce in a saucepan, simmering for 3-5 minutes.
- Serve the chicken tenders drizzled with honey lemon sauce or on the side for dipping, garnished with parsley if desired.
Notes
Add red pepper flakes to breadcrumbs for a spicy kick. Adjust cooking time if using chicken breasts instead of tenders.
