Delicious crispy angel cake churro bites that combine the light texture of angel food cake with the classic churro flavor.
Ingredients

- 1 package angel food cake mix
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Preheat the oven according to angel food cake mix instructions and combine the cake mix with 1 cup of water, whisk until smooth and pour into an ungreased tube pan. Bake for 30-35 minutes and cool completely in the pan.
- Remove the cooled cake from the pan and cut into bite-sized pieces (1-2 inches).
- Mix 1 cup of sugar and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon in a small bowl for cinnamon sugar.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to about 350°F (175°C).
- Fry cake pieces in hot oil for 2-3 minutes until golden brown, flipping halfway.
- Remove fried churro bites and drain on a paper towel, roll in cinnamon sugar while warm.
- Serve warm, optionally with chocolate sauce, caramel, or glaze for dipping.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature or freeze for longer storage. Reheat in the oven or toaster oven for a few minutes to restore crunch.
