Description

A healthier twist on traditional fries, these crispy apple fries are made in an air fryer for a delightful snack perfect for all ages.


Ingredients

  • 2 large apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or your favorite variety)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs (or regular breadcrumbs)
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • Cooking spray
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce (optional)
  • 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt (optional for a lighter option)

Instructions

  1. Peel the apples if desired and slice them into wedges about 1/2 inch thick, removing the core and seeds.
  2. Mix cinnamon and granulated sugar in a small bowl and set aside.
  3. Create a breading station with flour, beaten eggs, and panko breadcrumbs in separate bowls.
  4. Add half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture to the breadcrumbs and mix.
  5. Dredge each apple slice in flour, then dip into beaten egg, and coat with breadcrumb mixture.
  6. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3 minutes.
  7. Arrange the breaded apple slices in the air fryer basket in a single layer and lightly spray with cooking spray.
  8. Air fry for 8 to 10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  9. Sprinkle with the remaining cinnamon-sugar mixture and serve with your choice of caramel sauce or vanilla yogurt.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in the air fryer for a few minutes to restore crispiness.
