- 15 oz Italian sausage (crumbled)
- 8 oz rigatoni (uncooked)
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 4 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning or Herbs de Provence
- 15 oz tomato sauce
- 5 oz fresh spinach
- Salt and coarsely ground black pepper
- Red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the crumbled Italian sausage and cook until browned, about 5 to 7 minutes. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, sauté minced garlic until fragrant (about 1 minute), then add tomato sauce, chicken broth, and heavy cream. Mix well and stir in Italian seasoning.
- Add uncooked rigatoni, bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat, cover, and let simmer for 10 to 12 minutes until al dente, stirring occasionally.
- Stir in fresh spinach until wilted (about 2 minutes).
- Check the sauce for desired consistency; adjust with more chicken broth or cream if needed.
- Season to taste with salt, pepper, and optional red pepper flakes. Serve hot, garnished with herbs or cheese if desired.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat on the stove or microwave.
