Description

A comforting one-pan meal featuring hearty kielbasa, creamy sauce, and tender pasta, perfect for busy weeknights.


Ingredients

  • 12 oz penne pasta
  • 1 lb kielbasa sausage, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1½ cups shredded Parmesan cheese
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta according to package instructions in salted boiling water until al dente, then drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat, add kielbasa, and cook until browned and crisp (4–5 minutes). Remove kielbasa and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, sauté diced onion for 2–3 minutes until softened, then add minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
  4. Sprinkle in the flour and stir for about 1 minute to make a roux. Gradually whisk in the milk and simmer for 3–4 minutes until thickened.
  5. Stir in Parmesan cheese, salt, and black pepper, mixing until smooth.
  6. Add cooked pasta and kielbasa back into the skillet, and mix to coat everything in the sauce.
  7. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving warm.

Notes

For a healthier version, use turkey kielbasa and low-fat milk. Feel free to add more vegetables for nutrition.
