Description

A comforting and quick dish that combines smoked kielbasa, creamy sauce, and penne pasta, perfect for weeknight dinners or impressing guests.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz kielbasa sausage, sliced into thin rounds
  • 8 oz penne pasta
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the penne pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain the pasta and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced kielbasa and cook until browned on both sides, about 5 minutes. Remove the kielbasa from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the diced onion and cook until translucent, about 3 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  4. Pour in the chicken broth, scraping up any bits from the bottom of the skillet. Let the broth simmer for about 2 minutes. Add the heavy cream to the skillet, stirring to combine. Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 5 minutes, allowing it to thicken slightly.
  5. Return the cooked kielbasa to the skillet, along with the frozen peas. Stir in the Parmesan cheese until melted and the sauce is smooth.
  6. Add the cooked pasta to the skillet, tossing to coat it well in the creamy mixture. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Serve the creamy kielbasa pasta hot, garnished with chopped fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently in a skillet and add a splash of chicken broth or cream to loosen.
