Description
A comforting and quick dish that combines smoked kielbasa, creamy sauce, and penne pasta, perfect for weeknight dinners or impressing guests.
Ingredients
Scale
- 12 oz kielbasa sausage, sliced into thin rounds
- 8 oz penne pasta
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup frozen peas
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the penne pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain the pasta and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced kielbasa and cook until browned on both sides, about 5 minutes. Remove the kielbasa from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the diced onion and cook until translucent, about 3 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Pour in the chicken broth, scraping up any bits from the bottom of the skillet. Let the broth simmer for about 2 minutes. Add the heavy cream to the skillet, stirring to combine. Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 5 minutes, allowing it to thicken slightly.
- Return the cooked kielbasa to the skillet, along with the frozen peas. Stir in the Parmesan cheese until melted and the sauce is smooth.
- Add the cooked pasta to the skillet, tossing to coat it well in the creamy mixture. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve the creamy kielbasa pasta hot, garnished with chopped fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently in a skillet and add a splash of chicken broth or cream to loosen.
