- 1 lb Italian sausage, remove casings if necessary
- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 package (9 oz) cheese tortellini
- Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add the Italian sausage. Cook until fully browned, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add olive oil and minced garlic. Sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Pour in the chicken broth and heavy cream, stirring well to combine with the garlic and allowing to simmer gently.
- Incorporate the Parmesan cheese and Italian seasoning into the sauce; season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Cook the tortellini according to package instructions, adding the broccoli in the last 2-3 minutes.
- Drain the tortellini and broccoli, returning them to the skillet with the creamy sauce and adding the cooked sausage.
- Toss everything together until well coated, cooking for another 2-3 minutes to heat through.
- Serve hot and sprinkle with fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
Do not overcook the broccoli; add it during the last few minutes of cooking to keep it vibrant. Adjust seasonings to taste.
