Description
A quick and comforting pasta dish made with garlic, butter, and Parmesan, ready in just 20 minutes.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 stick Unsalted Butter
- 1 medium Onion
- 4 cloves Garlic
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon Chili Flakes
- 1 teaspoon Oregano
- 1/4 cup Basil
- 1 cup Freshly Grated Parmesan
- 8 ounces Pasta
Instructions
- Cook the Pasta: Boil a large pot of salted water. Add your choice of pasta and cook according to the package instructions, usually about 8-10 minutes. Stir occasionally.
- Sauté Onions and Garlic: While the pasta cooks, melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onion and cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Then, add minced garlic and continue cooking for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Season the Mixture: Lower the heat and sprinkle in the salt, black pepper, chili flakes, and oregano. Stir well to combine and let the flavors meld for another minute.
- Combine the Pasta and Sauce: Once the pasta is cooked, drain and reserve about 1/2 cup of the pasta water. Add the drained pasta to the skillet with the onion and garlic mixture. Toss to coat the pasta in the buttery sauce.
- Add Creaminess: Gradually mix in the reserved pasta water and grated Parmesan cheese. Stir until the cheese melts and forms a creamy sauce around the pasta.
- Finish with Fresh Herbs: Tear the basil into smaller pieces and stir it into the pasta. Adjust seasoning with more salt and pepper if needed.
- Serve: Plate the creamy garlic butter pasta while it’s hot and enjoy!
Notes
Don’t overcook the pasta and always reserve pasta water for a creamier sauce.
